'Shiros' Head' Wins Las Vegas Film Award

- Shiro's Head, Guam's first feature
length film, has won the Silver Ace
Award at the 2009 Las Vegas
International Film Festival.
The movie was produced by Guam
natives and brothers Don and Kel
Muna. A news release says "only 20
films in each competitive category
are chosen to be honored with this
prestigious recognition."
According to the release, the judges
said Shiro's Head "demonstrated
superior and standout filmmaking and
is deserving of special
recognition." It was "among the best
of nearly 2000 films submitted from
over 50 countries around the world."
In addition, Shiro's head has been
selected as part of the film lineup
in the Silver Anniversary
celebration of the 2009 Los Angeles
Asian Pacific Film Festival.
The Los Angeles Film Festival will
include the latest new works by
established and emerging filmmakers
and video artists and a slate of
feature-length productions
showcasing the talents of Asian
American acting and producing
talents.
The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film
Festival dates are: April 30 through
May 7, 2009
