Guam's First Premiere Feature Film:
Shiro's Head

“Shiro’s Head,” Guam’s first
premiere feature film, enjoyed it’s
unveiling to the island over the
weekend. If you’ve been around for a
while, you might have noticed that a
lot of people from Guam have been
emerging into the artistic scene;
trying their hand at displaying Guam
talent to the rest of America. This
has come in the form of film
producers, musicians, designers,
artists, dancers, etc.
Now whether or not any of these
people “make it big” is irrelevant.
Coming from an island of
approximately 170,000 people and
attempting the dream is enough to
say that these people have done
their job at representing Guam. In
fact, this would be the feeling of
anyone from a small hometown, be it
an island in the Pacific or a small
town in the Midwest. The point is,
it’s always a good day when someone
goes the distance to do something
great.
The Muña Brothers did an excellent
job at producing “Shiro’s Head.”
There were a few Only On Guam
moments (like when the start of the
film was behind schedule, i.e.
Chamorro Standard Time), but the
Muña Brothers embraced their “island
tardiness,” graciously thanked the
audience for taking the time to view
and support their efforts, and then
came back at the end to mingle and
answer questions.
The Only On Guam Guide-Magazine
works to share stories like that of
the Muña Brothers (and so much more)
in order to showcase Guam in its
entirety to newcomers. And we’re
always open to fresh ideas,
feedback, contributors, and most
importantly, readers.
